I remember very clearly my constant chasing of the societal dangling carrot.
It was exhausting.
My energy was always low.
I was so hard on myself about everything.
Heck, I wanted to have that picture perfect life so I could walk around and feel like “ok, now I deserve to be here” and “now they (people anywhere in society) will see that I have arrived.”
I spent many of my life years chasing dangling societal carrots in order to look good and arrive. But it is a useless hamster wheel that will never end and there is no arrival - there is only a realization of time wasted years later.
But the biggest dangling carrot I chased happened when I had my kids.
The chasing of being the perfect mother, having the perfect kids who went to all the extracurricular classes, dressed the best, and got the best grades.
This got old VERY quickly, for me and my kids!
And thanks to my two amazing boys, who have always been pretty strong minded - they would not go along with the non-sense.
I let go and let them be themselves.
I let them be who they wanted to be and do only those things that they wanted to do. And this has shaped them into the most awesome and authentic kids.
Also, I let go and started understanding ME.
I understood that I actually HATED all of that. So freaking exhausting.
When I owned it, our lives became like magic.

Being 100% you is your BIGGEST SHOT at creating that daily fulfillment and happiness we are all looking for.
Right? Why do we want to be healthy?
Well, we want to ‘be healthy’ because, ultimately, we want to have that delicious feeling of daily happiness, of trusting ourselves to live the life we want to live, to have fun, to accomplish the things that matter to us.
You can:
read all the most fashionable health books out there
follow all the most popular and famous health gurus
know all the ‘protocols’ for sleep, skin care, fat loss
buy all the sexy longevity and health products
read all the self-help books
listen to all the podcasts
BUT that is most definitely tackling the wrong problem and going about focusing on the wrong thing.
Stuffing your body with outside information will do nothing to improve your life.
It is like holding a glass of water that has a hole in it and continue to try to quench your thirst by refilling it over and over again.
That is a waste of time and EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING.
Your thirst WILL NEVER be quenched no matter how much water you add to that glass.
Best is to either patch up that hole or get a new glass.
For the tools of life and health to be useful (for the water to quench your thirst) you have to know how to use them AND use them at the RIGHT TIME FOR YOU.
FIRST, you’ve got to patch up all your energy leaks by understanding yourself and standing by it.
It is only when you UNDERSTAND YOURSELF that you can place the tools you have available to good use.
UNDERSTANDING IS HEALING
You’ve GOT to stop calibrating to what other people call successful and start connecting to who you really are and what you really want.
What do YOU really want? Who are YOU really? What do YOU like?
These are not easy questions to answer. And these questions cannot not just be answered in a two hour journaling session.
Answering these questions requires daily respect for what YOUR BODY really needs in the ACTUAL journey it is in now.
Answering these questions require daily honouring of what you don’t like and don’t resonate and then letting that fade into oblivion - AND being 100% ok with that.
Answering these questions are a daily work of being more quiet and listening.
Answering these questions require SLOWING THINGS DOWN to be able to hear yourself and calibrate to yourself and not just fill up your schedule with things that you think you should do (WHICH REALLY is code for filling up your schedule with things OTHER PEOPLE THINK mean to have a successful day).
The more you understand yourself, AND OWN THIS UNDERSTANDING, and then ACT accordingly the HIGHER your chance to achieve optimal health.
In other words, there is no way you can achieve that feeling of vitality, optimal health, bouncy feeling well into your 90s without understanding yourself.
When you understand yourself well, you can then use the adjacent possible pieces of good information to start taking you and your health to the next level.
SO,
Give yourself the BEST gift this 2024 Holiday Season:
of SILENCE, of SLOWING DOWN.
If it is not a HELL YEAH, DON’T DO IT.
Shut off opinions (and your own societal beliefs) of what should be happening in any area of your life right now.
OH your body will thank you so so much.
